KARACHI: A young woman was shot dead by an unknown motorcyclist in Korangi, police said on Monday Police said that the unidentified woman was gunned down in Burmi Colony near Darul Uloom Bastilate on Monday night.
Awami Colony SHO Jamal Leghari said that the woman, who came as a pillion rider with a motor-cyclist, was shot twice by him as soon as she got off the two-wheeler.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
In another incident, a woman was gunned down in Landhi on Monday evening, police said.
The Quaidabad police said that the victim, Naheed Akhter, 58, was killed in Sherpao Colony.
The body was shifted tothe JPMC for medicolegal formalities.
Suspect killed in `encounter` A suspected street criminal was shot dead while another arrested in wounded condition in Malir`s Jumma Goth on Monday.
Korangi-SSP Tariq Nawaz said two alleged street criminals were fleeing after snatching a cell phone from a citizen near Malir Nadi/stream.
When a police patrol reached there, the suspects resorted to firing in their bid to flee. In an ensuing exchange of firing, one suspect, identified as Zafar Ali, 30, was gunned down while his accomplice, Noor Khan, 25, was arrested in injured condition.
The police claimed to have recovered two pistols, a snatched cell phone and a motorbike from their possession.
The dead and the injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead in Gulshan-iMaymar on Monday evening, police said.Area SHO Bashir Wadho said the 40-yearold victim, Wali Mohammed, was gunned down allegedly by hismaternal uncle over some personal dispute in Noor Mohammed Goth. The suspect managed to escape from the crime scene.
