Two arrested over online harassment


PESHAWAR: Federal Investigation Agency`s cybercrime circle on Friday arrested two persons over online harassment.

An FIA statement said a woman had lodged a complaint with the cybercrime`s Abbottabad circle, alleging that Hammad Jan Nisar and Mohammad Bilal had shared her obscene images on social media platform WhatsApp.

`The men were blackmailing the complainant and had threatened to assault her family members,` the statement said, adding they would use international WhatsApp numbers for sending threatening messages to the complainant.

The accused were arrested in a raid carried out by an FIA team in Abbottabad.

The team also recovered four cellular phones and mobile SIM cards. The phones were sent for forensic analysis, and a case was registered against the two.

Meanwhile, the agency`s commercial banking circle arrested a man for human smuggling the other day. Officials said Naeem Khan, a proclaimed offender, was arrested during a raid in Mardan.

The officials said Naeem had deprived a citizen of Rs6.6 million for sending him to Poland. Bureau Report
