RAWALPINDI: Three guards of a private housing society were killed and two others injured in a targeted attack near Rajhar in Chauntra, police said on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Kaleemullah, Aya Khan and Saeed Rehman, whose bodies were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem. However, the identity of the two injured men, who were being treated in the hospital, could not be ascertained.
The reason behind the attack is said to be a land dispute between two parties, sources said.
The investigators of the Homicide Investigation Unit of Chauntra police station are investigating the triple murder case with no arrest made so far.
According to police, the guards of Rabia Residencia, a private housing society, were present in their mansion when unknown gunmen attacked them. As a result, three guards were killed while two others sustained injuries. After committing the crime, the gunmen escaped.
Police reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to the hospital with the help of Rescue 1122.
According to the police, medical assistance was provided to the two injured guards. They were kept in the hospital under the observation of doctors, the police said, adding that their condition was out of danger.
A police spokesman confirmed that a sudden attack by unknown gunmen on a mansion in a private housing society left three persons dead and two injured.
He said the reason behind the armed attack was yet to be ascertained, adding that the CPO had taken notice and investigation had been started.
APP ADDS: Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has taken notice of the incident and has sought report from RPO Rawalpindi.
He has also ordered the immediate arrest of the accused.
