Teacher gets 12-year jail term – 22 Mar 2023


RAWALPINDI: A local court has sentenced a religious seminary teacher to 12 years and 6 months in prison besides slapping him with a fine of Rso.1 million on being convicted of trying to rape a seven-year-old female student, who came to study the Nazra Quran (the Quranic script). Additional District and Sessions Judge Ahsan Mahmood Malik also ordered accused Usman to pay a compensation of Rso.2 million to victim Zehra Hameed. After the sentencing of the convict, he was transferred to jail. Sadar Beroni Police arrested the accused on February 2, 2021, after the case was filed by the victim’s father, Abdul Hameed. Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Irfan Akram sentenced accused Zahid Qureshi to life imprisonment in the murder case of Abdul Khaliq within the limits of the Airport police station.
