Suspect arrested for killing sister-in-law – 20 Jun 2022
TAXILA: Attock police on Sunday arrested a man and sent him behind bars for allegedly killing his sister-in-law in Bolniwal village in the limits of Attock Saddar police station.
In anotherincident,ataxi driver was found murdered in Mohra Chowk area in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police station.
Talking to newsmen on Sunday, District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Salamat said Rehmat Khan shot and killed his sister-inlaw with his 30-bore pistol for not being able to conceive despite being married to his brother was around five years.
After registering a murder case, police launched a hunt for the suspect and successfully raided his hideout and arrested him. Police also recovered the weapon used in the woman`s murder.
The DPO said zero tolerance would be shown to incidents of violence, harassment and abuse of women.
Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man was found dead near a graveyard in Mohra chowk area, police said on Sunday.
Mumtaz Akhtar, a taxi driver, had picked up a ride from Pirwadhai area in RawalpindilateonSaturday night.
The passengers asked Akhtar to take him to Mohra Chowk, a sparselypopulated locality, where they tried to overpower the taxi driver.
When Akhtar resisted, the vehicle lifters shot him multiple times, killing him on the spot.
They made away with the driver`s cash, mobile phone and vehicle.
A first information report has been lodged while the body of the taxi driver, a resident of Bilal Town, Pindora Rawalpindi, was handed over to his family after postmortem at Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Taxila.
Two killed in Fatehjang Two persons were killed and as many injured in separate incidents in the limits of Fatehjang police station on Sunday.
In the first incident, a speeding car rammed into a motorcyclist and later collided with a roadside tree on Rawalpindi-Kohat Road near Gulyial. As a result, motorcyclist Sher Khan was killed while two occupants of the car identified as Musaddig and Abdul Ghafoor were injured critically.
In the second incident, a man died after being hit by a bullet during celebratory gunfire at a wedding ceremony near Jehaz ground.
Police sources said a marriage procession was underway when a man with an automatic rifle resorted to firing in jubilation as a result of which one of the bullets hit the friend of the groom, Malik Jawad, killing him on the spot.
The suspect managed to escape from the scene.
