Topic: Exposure Visit to Shelter Home Dastak                     Facilitator: Dastak Staff

A visit was arranged for the paralegal trainees to visit a shelter home where women in peril reside and are taken care of by the staff of Dastak. Hina Jillani is the Director of Dastak.The staff of Dastak welcomed the trainees and then gave them a briefing about the objective and goals of the shelter home.They were told that Dastak has developed a manual for other institutions / organizations as a model shelter home. The trainees then were briefed on some of the residents who have been victims of life threatning situations in life and now living in Dastak.They are taken care of and helped in teaching such skills like candle making,stitching, learning computer etc, which would enable them to generate income for themselves and their families.They are also given awareness on rights-based issues to help them develop a better understanding of the society and its beliefs.
