LAHORE: A woman was shot dead allegedly by robbers over resistance in Batapur on Thursday.
Police said two to three robbers stopped a couple in the Dogran Kalan area and started snatching cash and jewellery from them.
Police said the woman, Ishrat Bibi, resisted the robbers while they were trying to snatch jewellery she was wearing. The robbers opened fire at her and fled the scene after snatching cash and jewellery.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she could not survive.
Police registered a case and started the investigation.
Meanwhile, 561 robbery and theft incidents were reported in the provincial metropolis during the last 24 hours.
According to police, thieves stole goods worth millions from 25 houses in different areas of the city while armed robbers took millions of rupees and mobile phones from 32 people at various locations.Staff Reporter
