A permission letter was obtained from Honourable Abid Hussain Qureshi, the District and SessionJudge,Lahore, to allow our paralegal trainees to visit family courts and civil courts. Arepresentative of two paralegal trainees (each) from all six groups was allowed to visit courts along with the paralegal coordinator. Visiting the family court, the trainees witnessed first-hand a hearing about a case regarding custody of a minor. The judge in the case also explained the procedures to the trainees, elaborated on the cautionary measures taken in each case and the heightened priority given to the best interest of the minor. The trainees also visited the civil courts, where they experienced the hearings of different types of cases. According to the feedback of the trainees, this exposure visit was an eye opener for them in terms of the way the court proceedings are run, the individual case load of the judges and the amount of work that goes into deciding a case.
