TOBA TEK SINGH: A man and three children were shot dead, while as many others of the family were injured critically when their rivals opened indiscriminate fire on their jeep on Eid day near Khurrianwala, Faisalabad.
According to police, the deceased and inured persons belonged to Rajpoot group of Chak 206-RB, which had an old enmity with Loona group over a property dispute.
The enmity has so far claimed lives of several persons belonging to both groups.
The police said eight members of a family belonging to Rajpoot group were returning home after visiting their relatives at Chak 72-RB, Bahmniwala.
On Karianwala Bypass, some men allegedly belonging to rival Loona group in a pick-up opened indiscriminate fire on the family, the police said.
As a result, Rana Amer (36), his six-year-old daughter Dua Fatima, nephew Ali Hassan (12) and niece Muzfeera (7) were fatally shot, while four others in the jeep — Rana Amer’s wife Shahzadi Bibi (35), his brother Rana Imran (46), three-year-old son Abdullah and Rana Imran’s wife Farkhanda (35), were seriously injured.
The injured persons were shifted to Khurrianwala Rural Health Centre (RHC), where doctors referred them to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.
BOY DIES: A butcher’s young son died when a meat cleaver he was carrying pierced through his ribs as the motorcycle he was riding with his father lost balance and they fell in Jhang on Eid day.
Eyewitnesses said Farhan Ali (15) of Kotli Baqir Shah, Athara Hazari Tehsil, along with his father, Waris Ali, a butcher, to slaughter sacrificial animals at a nearby village, on a motorcycle when the accident occurred.
The injured boy was rushed to Athara Hazari Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The doctors said the cleaver pierced through the boy’s ribs and cut his heart.
