Man shot dead on court premises for honour – 21 May 2023

SHANGLA: A man was shot dead on the premises of the district courts in Alpuri here on Friday for honour, the police said.

District police officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada told journalists that the deceased, Nasib Nawab, belonging to Dehrai area, was appearing in a case filed by members of his wife`s family. He said the deceased was coming out of the petition writer`s cabin when the accused, Fateh Mohammad, a resident of Katkor area of Chakesar tehsil, opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to injuries in the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri.

DPO Sahibzada said after shoot-ing Nawab, the attacker tried to flee the scene, but a sub-inspector overpowered him.

He said the deceased had tied the knot with a cousin of the attacker through a court marriage seven months ago, and his wife`s family had filed a case against him.

He said Nawab was also attacked by his wife`s family members and alleged hired killers four days ago in Nagha Banda area of Alpuri, when he was travelling in a taxi.

However, he remained unhurt.

Following the attack, the police had arrested the hired killers and his wife`s family members.

The police have registered a case under section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code against the attacker.

CONGREGATION CONCLUDES: A two-day annualTableeghi Jamaat congregation concluded in Bisham Maira area here on Friday evening with the participants seeking Allah`s forgiveness and pledging to spread the message of peace.

Tableeghi Jamaat emirs from Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Shangla, Swat and other districts, spoke on the last day of the gathering.

After the sermons, the participants offered collective prayer,urging Muslims to obey the commandments of Allah Almighty and follow the glorious examples set by Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Officials of police, health and Rescue 1122 and other departments were deployed at the congregation.
