Man jailed for life in honour killing case – 01 Mar 2023


SUKKUR: The First Additional Sessions Judge of Jacobabad, Khalid Hussain Chand, presiding over the Model Criminal Trial Coud, on Tuesday jailed a man for life in an honour killing case.

The judge found Dhani Bakhsh Sarki alias Patni guilty of killing Mohammad Yousuf Sarki alias Suhno in the name of honour in Deen Garh village within the limits of the Thull taluka on March 20, 2012. A fine of Rs500,000 was also imposed on him, and in case of default on the fine money, the convict would have to undergo an additional one-year imprisonment, the order read.

The case was registered on the complaint of the deceased man`s brother, Mohammad Oasim Sarki.

Peddler convicted In a separate case, the judge awarded life imprisonment to a youth, Mohammad Hayat Pathan, after finding him guilty of keeping 45kg hashish. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs500,000 or undergo an additional five-year imprisonment.

Pathan was booked and arrested by the Saddar police of Jacobabad while he was transporting a consignment of hashish.

Brawl case The Kandhkot Model Trial Coud on Tuesday awarded different jail terms to 11 persons and imposed fines on them for indulging in a brawl.

Judge Munzoor Khan Darejo awarded two-year imprisonment to Moor Khan, Mehboob Ali, Hafeezullah, Asif Ali Banglani and Gul Mohammad Jhanj, and ordered them to pay a fine of Rs10,000 each. Other accused, Aijaz Hussain, Khadim Ali, Himmat Ali Bangwar, Shoukat Ali, Abdul Rasool, Mian Bakhsh alias Lal Jahanj were awarded one-year imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs5,000 each.
