RAWALPINDI: Tahafuz Centre Rawalpindi continues to protect the rights of the weak and deprived sections of society. In this regard, the accused who tortured a transgender was arrested. According to the police, the victim filed a complaint, accusing his neighbour, Faisal, of extorting money from him by issuing threats. Upon his refusal to pay the money, the accused tortured him with an iron rod and injured his limbs. Upon receiving the application, Bani police station registered a case and arrested the accused. Inspector Sajjadul Hasan said all measures were being taken for the protection, support and convenience of the transpersons. He said the Tahafuz Centres have been established across the province for help, support and convenience of all vulnerable and deprived sections including the transpersons, abandoned children and persons with disabilities.
