Man gets life term for killing boy – 01 Jun 2023


KASUR: A gender-based violence court has handed down a life imprisonment sentence and a fine of Rs800,000 to a convict who murdered a minor boy in January 2021 at village Rasoolpura, in the jurisdiction of the Ganda Singh police.

According to the prosecution, Yaseen accompanied by three unidentified accomplices took 10-year-old Waheed to a nearby field on Jan 14 with an intention to commit rape. When the minor boy resisted, the convict slit his throat. Waheed succumbed to his injuries on Jan 16.

Additional Sessions Judge of Gender-Based Violence Court Sajawal Khan sentenced Shakeel to rigorous imprisonment for life and fined Rs300,000.

The judgment stated that in case of default in payment, the convict would face an additional six months of imprisonment.

Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the convict under Section 544 of the Criminal Procedure Code as compensation to the legal heirsof the deceased.In case ofnonpayment, the convict would serve a further six months of imprisonment.

However, the court granted the convict the benefit of the doubt under Section 382-B of the CrPC, counting the period he remained in custody as an undertrial prisoner.

CASE: Kanganpur police lodged a criminal case against unidentified individuals who abducted an 18-year-old boy from Shamkot village.

Victim`s father Saleem reported that his son went to buy something from a shop but did not return.

BODIES: Khudian Police on Wednesday handed over the bodies of two persons, which were recovered from a well in Chiraghdinwala village on Tuesday.

Unidentified assailants had shot them dead and threw their bodies, along with a motorcycle, into a 20-foot deep well.

Khudian police shifted the bodies to the DHQ Hospital.

The bodies were later identified as that of Akhtar from the Bhasarpura locality and Ramzan from Rukanpura.
