Man gets 25-year jail for raping daughter – 01 Apr 2023

BAHAWALPUR: Dunyapur Additional Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar handed down 25-year jail term, along with a Rs100,000 fine to a man for raping his 15-year-old daughter.

According to the prosecution, accused Irshad on May 2, 2022, raped his daughter `Z` after drugging her in his house at 354/WB village in the limits of Dunyapur police station in Lodhran district.

The police, on the complaint of girl`s aunt Karam Bibi registered a case (FIR No 387/22) under sections 376 and 337 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

After arrest of the accused, his challan was submitted in the court.

District Police Office (DPO) Hissam Bin Iqbal of Lodhran welcomed court`s judgement in the case of heinous crime, saying the rapist got punished due to police`s standardised investigation and speedy prosecution, calling it victory of justice.

Meanwhile, city Kahrore Pucca police claimed to have arrested a man under the Telegraph Act on charges of making hoax telephone call to police about a `murder` in the area.

PRICE CONTROL: Price control magistrates, during a crackdown in the month of March in the district, got 399 shopkeepers arrested, besides getting cases registered against 29 other traders, andsealed 58 shops, collecting Rs2.9 million fine, for profiteering and overcharging the customers.

Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa said this while presiding over a meeting with the magistrates held to review the anti-inflation measures taken by the district administration.

Meanwhile, it was informed that so far over one million bags of free wheat flour were distributed among the deserving persons in the district.

However, the flour distribution remained shut at all 20 points set up for the purpose in the city on Friday because of Punjab government`s decision to provide time to the millers to grind wheat for provision to the people during the next week.

MINOR KILLED: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly strangled to death in mysterious circumstances at Jalalpur More on Multan Road in Lodhran police station limits on Friday.

According to Lodhran Rescue 1122 emergency service, on an emergency call, the rescuers reached the scene, where a boy had died.

The boy`s mother said her 14-year-old son was found strangled by unidentified persons.

The rescuers called the police and shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital for the postmortem examination.

The process for registration of an FIR on the complaint of the boy`s mother was underway when this report was filed.
