Police shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem after disclosure of the murder by the suspect
Gender-based violence remains a common problem in Punjab. In June 2021, a man allegedly beat his wife and daughter to death over a petty dispute in Tandlianwala. Police handed over the bodies to the relatives after post-mortem and arrested the suspect after registering a case against him.
According to the police report, Saleem, a resident of Tandlianwala, demanded Rs.500 from his wife, 42-year-old Farzana Bibi, but she refused to give him the money. In a fit of rage, Saleem allegedly started beating his wife with a stick he found lying in the house, striking her head multiple times. Meanwhile, the suspect’s 18-year-old daughter, Umm-e-Kulsoom, came to her mother’s aid and managed to stop the physical assault, but the suspect then started hitting her.
