ENHANCING ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE
The Asma Jahangir (AGHS) Legal Aid Cell offers pro bono legal assistance to individuals whose human rights have been violated by state or non-state actors. The team also provides legal aid to women seeking to obtain their rights under family law, victims of due process abuse, and those incarcerated in prisons, particularly women, juveniles and religious minorities.
Each year, the AGHS Legal Aid Cell team of advocates provides free legal assistance through various channels, including walk-in clients, prison visits, referrals from community-based paralegal centres and other sources, phone calls, and an emergency helpline number.
The organization caters to two main categories of cases: civil and family law, and criminal law. For civil and family law cases, AGHS extends legal aid for crucial matters such as maintenance, guardianship, custody, dissolution of marriage, dower, dowry articles, and restitution of conjugal rights. In criminal law cases, AGHS offers legal representation for bail applications (both pre-arrest and post-arrest), jail appeals, habeas corpus petitions, and cases pertaining to blasphemy, rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

NATURE OF MOST COMMON CASES
In addition to these the Asma Jahangir (AGHS) Legal Aid Cell provides free legal assistance for all disputes causing a breach of Human Right’s violation for women, children and minorities.
