NOWSHERA: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a nurse in Nowshera district on Saturday.
Musrat Hussain, husband of the slain nurse Rukhsana Yasmin, told the police that his wife was a member of paramedical staff at the District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera.
He said that she was going for duty when unknown car riders opened indiscriminate fire on her near the ACL Bridge, leaving her injured seriously.
The complainant said that she succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital. He said that they had no enmity with anyone. The police have registered a case against unknown target-killers.
Meanwhile, the paramedical staff and Class-IV employees associations of DHQ Hospital boycotted the duty and staged a protest rally.
They closed down all the departments of DHQ Hospital and suspended all healthcare delivery services except Emergency and Accidents Ward.
Talking to media, Nasir Khan, Siraj Khan and nursing staff head Shazia Bibi, head-nurse Mussarat and others set a three-day ultimatum to the police and district administration to arrest the killers of their colleague or else they would launch a protest movement against the murder.
Soon after the incident, District Police Officer Umar Khan Gandapur along with other police officials rushed to the DHQ Hospital and launched investigation into the murder of female nurse.
He said that they had constituted three teams to probe the incident from various angles to arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible.
